When they told us we were weak, they lied.
When they told us to sit down and shut up, and that no God-fearing woman was allowed to have a spine, they lied.
When they implied that women were second fiddles and rarely important in God’s plan, they lied.
And when they told us we should “speak our truth” and come up with our own version of reality, that was a lie, too.

If we tell people to read the Bible cover to cover, we had better be prepared to talk about all of its contents. Yes, even the messy parts.

God is not interested in whitewashing history. Therefore, we shall not tiptoe around it either. Everything in the Bible is mentionable, whether society squirms or not. Throw open the doors, sweep out the moth balls, and let light into dark places.
